Acrylic nail extension is a salon procedure that will help you to become the owner of neat hands with beautiful nails in just a few hours. In addition, such a manicure will last more than one week, and even gradually help to get rid of such troubles as, for example, an ingrown nail or a relief surface of the nail plate.

What it is?

This procedure will help lengthen the nail, correct the shape of the nail plate, or eliminate other external imperfections of your nail with the help of a special material — cosmetic acrylic. Modern acrylic, with which building is carried out, is a modified material that has been used in dentistry for many years. The first acrylic nail extension masters “borrowed” it in dentistry. However, over the years of popular use, the material has undergone many changes and now there are special acrylics designed for this procedure.

Unlike gels used for building, acrylic dries itself (without the use of ultraviolet light) in 1-1.5 minutes after application. This requires good skills and dexterity from the master in order to quickly and correctly form the shape of the nail. However, if the result does not satisfy you, then unlike the gel, acrylic is easily removed from the nail — just dip the nail into a special liquid that will dissolve it. After that, the procedure can be repeated.

Acrylic nail extension procedure consists of three main stages. The duration of the procedure is about 2 hours (including coverage).

Stage 1.

The first stage of the procedure is the preparation of your nails for building. The master corrects the length of the nail plate. After that, the nail is polished with a special abrasive file in order to remove the upper smooth layer of tissue (thereby improving the adhesion of acrylic to the nail). The last step in the first stage of acrylic nail extension is degreasing the surface of the nail with a special solution.

Stage 2.

At the second stage of the procedure, the master kneads and applies acrylic on the nails, modeling the shape of the nail. This stage may differ depending on what type of extension you choose (on tips, on forms or on the surface of your own nail). The shape of the nail is modeled very quickly, since acrylic tends to dry on its own in a minute. After complete drying, the master corrects the shape, sawing off excess material and grinding the surface, and also files the border between his nail and acrylic so that an unaesthetic hump does not form in this place in the future.

Stage 3.

The last, third stage involves the «decoration» of the nail. The master either applies a coating, or performs a drawing, or simply polishes the surface of an acrylic nail with high quality.

• Acrylic keeps perfectly even with very “thin” build-up, which means that “in profile” nails look natural
• Acrylic is a fairly elastic material, it can bend slightly and is not afraid of direct blows.
• Acrylic is easily removed — just dip your nails into a special solution and the material will dissolve
• If cracks or minor damage appear, the acrylic nail can be repaired, and it is not necessary to re-grow
• The acrylic method implies the ability to use various extension methods (tips, forms, etc.)
• The ability to perform almost any nail pattern (French manicure, etc.)
• Acrylic nails can be extended not only on the hands, but also on the legs, which will help to significantly extend the freshness of the pedicure and solve some unpleasant problems such as ingrown or curvature of the nail

Flaws procedures

Like any cosmetic procedure, acrylic nail extension has its drawbacks. The main ones are:

• When using low-quality acrylic, the nails will have a specific smell for some time.
• Acrylic comes off the nail more easily than other materials (e.g. gel)
• Acrylic contains acids that can cause allergic reactions.
• After repeated washing off of nail polish, acrylic loses its luster and becomes cloudy, which creates the need for the last days before correction without fail to use the coating.
