Secrets of proper hair washing

The procedure for washing hair seems very simple and everyday. But it is she who plays one of the most important roles in the process of caring for curls.

Many people dream of beautiful and healthy hair. The number of presented hair and scalp care cosmetics on the shelves of cosmetic stores, the lists of hair restoration and nutrition services listed in the price lists of beauty salons — all this helps those who dream of beautiful hair to make their dreams come true. But few people realize that it is the seemingly simple and everyday procedure for washing your hair that is one of the fundamental activities in a complex hair care system. So, having learned to wash your hair according to all the rules, you will not only avoid such minor troubles as split ends or dull hair, but also give your hair health and beauty for many years to come.

Conventionally, the hair washing procedure can be divided into three main stages, each of which is fraught with many features and trifles that should never be ignored.

Stage 1. Before washing your hair

Before you start washing your hair, you should prepare them for this procedure. Proper preparation will allow the scalp and the curls themselves to get the maximum benefit from the procedure. In addition, unprepared hair is more likely to be injured during the washing process, which leads to brittleness and loss in the future.

Combing hair

The main stage of preparation is high-quality combing. If the hair was collected in a hairstyle, you should dissolve it and first gently unravel the difficult sections with your fingers. Only then pick up a comb.

If you have long curls, then you should start combing them from the ends, holding the strands with your hand closer to the base. This will help avoid pulling them out. Gradually move from the tips to the roots of the hair. If you are the owner of a short haircut, then the combing procedure before washing your hair should start from the roots.

For combing, use a comb with fine or coarse teeth, depending on the type of hair and personal preference. The material from which the comb is made is better to choose natural, such as wood. Such a comb will not electrify the hair, creating static electricity, and certain types of wood can indirectly deal with other problems of the scalp and hair. So, for example, a comb made of oak will help strengthen the hair roots, and a birch comb will reduce the appearance of dandruff.

Scalp massage

Only after the hair is thoroughly combed and there are no tangled areas left, you can turn to the massage brush. It is preferable to use brushes made of natural bristles — they, like natural combs, exclude electrification, and besides, they “polish” the hair.

Massage the scalp should be carried out with gentle movements, in directions from the forehead to the back of the head and from one ear to the other. The massage should take 5-10 minutes. This time will be enough to activate metabolic processes in the scalp.

After the massage, you can apply a hair mask.

Stage 2. While washing your hair

The process of washing hair itself involves cleansing the surface of the hair and scalp from impurities.

Step one

Wet your hair. Make sure that the water wets all areas of the scalp and hair. You can hold your head for some time under a stream of warm water. This will slightly steam the scalp, open the pores and the beneficial substances contained in the shampoo will work deeper.

step two

Shampoo should be applied diluted to the hair. To do this, first take a little shampoo in your hand, and then dilute it with water in your palm. This will help reduce the concentration, which means that the effect of the product when washing your hair will be softer.

Shampoo should be applied from the roots to the ends of the hair with light massage movements. Ideally, the hair washing procedure should be repeated twice, since the first time you will wash off only part of the surface dirt, and the second time you will clean your hair deeply and efficiently.

Step Three

When the shampoo is evenly distributed over the scalp and hair, gently massage the scalp with your fingertips. Thus, you will clean the surface from contamination.

The hair itself when washing should not be rubbed or «washed» too intensively. This injures the hairs, leading to their fragility in the future. Gently lather the shampoo on your hair, and then wring out.

Shampoo on curls should be no more than 1-2 minutes. This is enough to remove dirt. Washing your hair for a longer time will dry out your curls.

Step Four

Rinse the shampoo gently with warm water. Make sure there is no product left on the hair. Apply the balm and just gently and gently distribute it through the hair. Do not overdo the balm on your hair. Enough 2-3 minutes.

Step Five

Complete the hair washing process directly with a cool rinse. This will “close” the hair scales and narrow the pores on the scalp. Hair will become shiny and smooth.

Do not use too cold water for rinsing. Firstly, such «contrast showers» can lead to colds, and secondly, it is stress for the hair, which can lead to excessive hair loss.

In order to solve the problems of nutrition and hair washing at the same time, cool rinsing can be performed not with plain water, but with infusions of various herbs (depending on goals and wishes).

Stage 3. After washing the hair

After the hair washing procedure is completed, proceed to dry them. First, use a warm towel to pat your wet hair dry. Do not rub your hair — this also leads to damage to the curls. Avoid brushing wet hair.

Try to let your hair dry without a hair dryer. However, if this is not possible, allow the curls to dry slightly naturally before using hot air.

When using a hair dryer, do not resort to the highest temperature settings — this not only leads to dull hair, but is also one of the main factors affecting the hair section.

After drying, do not immediately go outside. Especially in the cold season. Such temperature stress for the hair stimulates hair loss.
