[ad_1]
With the advent of the hustle, there was no need for long dance training, because in order to demonstrate virtuosity at discos, it is enough to learn just a few basic dance moves.
In recent years, the hustle has gained extraordinary popularity: numerous schools and clubs appear, seminars are held, competitions are organized. The term «hustle» in translation from English literally means «turmoil, hustle, bustle.» Perhaps the dance got its name precisely because of the lack of rigid, fixed requirements in it. Such simplicity and democracy contributed to the extraordinary popularity of the hustle, which is growing every year.
History of occurrence
The canonical history of the hustle begins in the late 60s and early 70s of the 20th century. In those days in America and Europe, discos with high-quality sound and bright flickering lights were gaining popularity. The dances at such evenings were of an arbitrary nature, the youth competed in originality and skill. The indispensable attire of young people were high platform shoes, flared trousers, hairstyles that imitated the African style.
At such discos, such dances as cha-cha-cha, salsa, mambo were already popular. The youth, who lacked the ability to dance them, arbitrarily combined movements from all these directions, simplified them, and supplemented them with other elements. And so the dance «Latino Hustle» or «Rope Hustle» was born.
In the USSR, the hustle appeared in the late 70s — early 80s. A fragment of this dance is shown in the Soviet film «Beloved Woman of the Mechanic Gavrilov.»
Hustle competitions are regularly held in the modern dance world, both amateur and sports.
What is a Hustle?
The popularity of hustle all over the world is huge due to its democratic nature and the absence of rigid frameworks. This dance can be performed to any music and at any tempo. Hustle assumes the leading position of the partner, and the partner must adapt to the dance steps of the young man.
Hustle is a dance that incorporates many elements from other dance styles: rock and roll, latin, swing, ballroom dancing. A large role is given to improvisation, the ability to feel a partner. So, at some competitions, a section is provided in which partners dance with unfamiliar partners to unfamiliar music. Thus, it is possible to determine the ability of partners to interact with each other, the ability to immediately select movements that most fully correspond to the music.
Types of dance
In the course of hustle competitions, its following types were gradually formed:
- hustle freestyle
- hustle jack-n-jill
- sports hustle (disco swing)
- double hustle
- lady’s hustle
- show hustle
Since the hustle is improvisational in nature, it is quite possible that other types of this dance will appear over time.
Hustle Features
The advantage of this dance is that almost everyone can learn it. In 10-15 lessons, anyone can learn the basic elements and hone their skills at the nearest disco, supplementing the basic movements of the hustle with their own.
The lack of clear schemes and rules contributes to the development of improvisation. The dance can be performed in a small space, which is especially true for clubs and discos.
